Leon Wharekura

With a career that spans more than twenty years, LEON WHAREKURA is no stranger to the live music scene. Having spent time in Wellington, Sydney, the Gold Coast, Perth and China (Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong) Leon is now based in Auckland and is enjoying huge success here. You will love Leon’s voice with “Versatile” being the best descriptor. Being able to move effortlessly between genre (including pop, rock, reggae and love songs) he has built a very successful career as a singer/ songwriter/cabaret artist. He’s definitely of the old school though and is the consummate Entertainer so you will see and hear images of the kiwi greats like Billy T and Sir Howard. If it’s a cocktail hour you need, a jazz singer to entertain or a big party with great entertainment then Leon is your man. Believe me, you won’t be disappointed.

LEGACY is a collaboration of 3 of NZ’s finest entertainers. Combining power and passion for their music they have a sound that is rare and are at the forefront of Auckland’s live music scene. Created in 2007, the concept was to blend the experienced talents of Urshula Boon and Leon Wharekura with the freshness of NZ’s first “Idol” Ben Lummis. Benjamin John Maha

Benjamin Maha, or Ben as his friends call him, has been told all his life that he should be a model. “It’s the eyes” they all say…and they’re not half wrong. The lucky thing has got the best of both sides to his whakapapa. Green eyes from Mum (who’s half Scottish - half Kiwi) and an olive complexion from his Dads side (of Taranaki/Nga Ruahine descent). Having just come on to the modeling scene this year he’s already been selected for a photo shoot in the Bride and Groom Magazine (May-July 2008 quarter) and looks quite the dashing groom. More recently though he has featured on the cover of Tu Mai Magazine (June 08). The associated article explores Matariki through contemporary eyes (see, everyone says it’s his eyes). July saw him work his way down the catwalk for the first time at a charity fashion show called “In The Pink”. It’s a fashion extravaganza for the NZ Breast Cancer Foundation and Ben was HOT! It’s not only about good looks though is it? You want some one who’s easy to work with, punctual and professional. And you can be assured that Ben will deliver for you… without the attitude!
